Programs for People with Dementia
Alzheimer's Family Day Center offers participants programs that address the specific needs of people in the early, middle, and late stages of the disease with a common goal to provide opportunities for mental stimulation, social interaction, and organized participation in life's daily activities. Our outstanding care is achieved by staff-to-participant ratios that exceed state licensing requirements, health monitoring by professional nurses, and a highly trained bilingual staff experienced in dementia care.
Early Stage
Our goal is to assist individuals with memory loss and their families throughout their entire journey, beginning with the diagnosis. Early intervention can help!
Mind and Body Workshop
The program provides support and discussion with others experiencing memory loss, brain gym exercises to maintain and strengthen brain functioning, laughter to renew mind and spirit, and strategies to help adjust to changing abilities and family relationships. This is a workshop for both people with mild cognitive impairment, and their families.
Adult Day Health Program
Our Day Center is the centerpiece of our services. We provide two levels of care in the center, the Friends Club, for those in the middle stages of dementia, and the Sunshine Club, for those in the late stages.
Friends Club
A therapeutic weekday program providing opportunities for people in the middle stages of an Alzheimer's type illness to connect with others and maintain or improve their physical, social and cognitive skills in a fun environment.
Sunshine Club
A weekday program for people in the later stages of an Alzheimer's illness that provides personal care; assistance with activities of daily living; as well as sensory, physical and cognitive stimulation. |
