Classes for Caregivers

Classes for Caregivers is a series of workshops designed to help families grow in their caregiving role by providing them with helpful information and community resources.  Guest experts speak on topics that range from legal/financial issues to managing caregiver stress with humor. Alzheimer's Family Day Center (AFDC) offers respite free of charge during class meetings. Other community members and senior serving professionals who would like to learn more about Alzheimer's and caregiving are also encouraged to attend.

Volume 1 - Psychological Aspects of Dementia
We will look at the importance of evaluating brain function and explore ways to strengthen remaining cognitive abilities by creating an individualized course of action.

Volume 2 - Hazards and Hopes of Hospitalization
For people with Alzheimer's disease, hospitalization can be traumatic and disorienting. The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) at Inova Fairfax Hospital is an innovative service designed to make those necessary hospital stays easier on both you and your loved one.
